Each of our 30 exhibition huts, which originally accommodated Italian and German Prisoners of War during World War Two, have been utilized and opened up to tell the story of British military history of the 20th Century and civilian history of the 1930’s and 40’s period. Using life size scenes and tableaux, containing thousands of original artifacts and items of memorabilia, the dramatic events of World War Two are brought to life. Around the site we also have a growing collection of vehicles, replica aircraft and other ‘weapons of war’, everything from a V1 Flying Bomb, better know as a Doodle Bug, to our landmark  Hawker Hurricane ‘flying’ 30ft in the air above our entrance and Sherman, Churchill and T34 tanks.

Older visitors can reminisce and recount their own personal experiences, whilst younger visitors and school parties can experience for themselves both the happy and sad times that were endured by their peers 75 years ago. Our museum is extremely popular with school groups, and we offer one of the best value educational visit rates in the country.  “One hour at Eden Camp is worth 10 hours in the classroom with regards to teaching children about the war” is a common comment from teachers who make return trips year after year.

Eden Camp is completely self contained, with free on site coach and car parking, toilets, a NAAFI Cafe, Officers Mess tearooms, Garrison Cinema Bar, indoor and out door pic-nicing areas, a Gift shop and even a free of charge Old Time Music Hall puppet theatre. Our entire site and all exhibitions and facilities are on ground level, and manual wheelchairs, audio guides and Braille sheets are also available free of charge.

Open for 50 weeks of the year from 10.00am until 5.00pm with last admissions at 4.00pm, we suggest an average of 3 to 4 hours for a visit. Being located on the junction of the A64 and the A169 we are easy to locate and get to. (The A64 is the main road artery which runs West to East across North Yorkshire from Leeds to Scarborough, whilst the A169 links the nearby town of Malton to Pickering, the North Yorkshire Moors and onto Whitby.)
