Join us aboard HMS Belfast in 2013 and celebrate 75 years of naval history. Launched on St Patrick’s Day 1938 and once home to a crew of up to 950 men, HMS Belfast tells the stories of those who lived on board this warship. Explore nine decks of seafaring history and hear the sailors’ battle stories fom the Second World War and beyond – the convoys in icy Arctic conditions, the bombardment of German defences on D-Day and the 404 days spend patrolling waters during the Korean War.
Immerse yourself in the midst of a battle during the Second World War in The Gun Turret Experience. Travel down to the bowels of the ship to see the machines that powered her across the world. Take control of a fleet off North Borneo in the Operations Room and hear veterans’ stories in the Life at Sea exhibition.
