Ullswater ‘Steamers have been sailing on England’s most beautiful lake for over 150 years and operate one of the largest heritage fleets in the world.
Lady of the Lake, originally in steam until the 1930s, was originally launched back in 1877 followed by Raven in 1889 at direct bequest of Sir Thomas Cook, one of the first gentlemen to create the infamous package holiday. Today, our vessels provide idyllic views of the surrounding mountains and fells and nothing seems to have changed over the last century. If you close your eyes you could almost transport yourself back to those days when these vessels were the only link in and out of the valley carrying vital supplies and post when roads were deemed for only for the very bravest of horses.
