Gardens & Garden Centres,Historic Building / House
Built in the 18th century and family residence of the 13th Earl of Haddington, Mellerstain is a unique example of both William and Robert Adam design, presenting a complete picture as it would have been some 240 years ago.
Listed as “one of Britain’s 10 best stately homes” by The Telegraph in 2011, this Robert Adam masterpiece exhibits a treasure of paintings (incl Aitken, Gainsborough, Ramsay, Van Dyke), period furniture, personal effects, embroidery and Adam’s exquisite ceilings.ÃÂ The house is complemented by acres of stunning parkland, prize winning gardens, lakeside/ woodland walks and courtyard coffee shop.
Group tours can be tailored to group interests.ÃÂ A house tour over 4 floors will take approx. 1.5hrs and we suggest group organisers allow approx. 2.5hrs if wishing to include the gardens and/or coffee shop.
